We would like to inform you about important mandatory policy changes introduced by NIXI (National Internet Exchange of India) for .IN, third-level .IN, and .BHARAT domain names. These changes apply to new registrations, renewals, transfers, and contact updates.

???? Effective from 27 January 2026

1️⃣ Only Indian Registrants Allowed

  • Domains can be registered or transferred only with India as the registrant country.

  • Existing domains cannot update registrant details to a non-Indian country.

2️⃣ Restricted Email Addresses

  • Temporary or disposable email addresses are not allowed for registrant contacts.

  • Domains using restricted email services may be blocked or rejected.

3️⃣ VPN Usage Not Allowed

  • Domain registration must be done using a real Indian IP address.

  • Registrations done using VPN or masked IPs may be suspended or deleted.

???? Upcoming Changes – By March 2026

4️⃣ Mandatory eKYC & Email Verification

For the following actions, eKYC and email verification will be mandatory:

  • Registrations

  • Renewals

  • Transfers

  • Registrant contact changes

⏳ 15 days will be provided to complete verification.
⚠️ Domains not verified within this period will be temporarily suspended.

What You Should Do

  • Ensure your registrant details are Indian-based

  • Use a valid personal or business email address

  • Avoid VPN usage during domain operations

  • Be prepared to complete eKYC & email verification when prompted
